About this template

This or That Poll — Free Instagram Story Poll Template

This or That Poll social post template: A Story-first engagement post: a question, two big answer cards with a "VS" between them and a prompt to vote, sized to stay clear of Story buttons.

This or That Poll is a free Story-first engagement template for Instagram and Facebook Stories. A "Settle this" kicker sits at the top, a big question fills the middle, two answer cards sit underneath with a round "VS" badge between them, and a "Vote in the poll ↓" prompt points to Instagram's poll sticker.

Designed for Story stickers

Instagram's poll sticker does the voting. This design gives it a stage. At 1080×1920 the two answer cards stack vertically with plenty of space, and the layout keeps text out of the top 250 px and bottom 340 px, where Instagram puts its header and reply bar. Place the poll sticker below the prompt.

Two clear choices

The cards are large rounded blocks: option A is translucent with a white outline, and option B is filled with the pink accent, so the two choices look distinct at a glance. The "VS" badge sits exactly between them, centred with CSS transforms.

Works in the feed too

On portrait, square and landscape sizes the answer cards sit side by side, so you can post the same question to the feed and ask for answers in the comments.

Questions that get answers

The best polls are quick and a little divisive: "Tabs or spaces?", "Coffee or tea?", "Dark mode or light mode?". Highlight the key word in the question with *asterisks*. Long questions shrink to fit.

For a Story that drives clicks instead of votes, use New Post Link in Bio.

Why use it

Why Use the This or That Poll Template

◧
Made for poll stickers
The layout leaves space for Instagram’s poll sticker and keeps text out of the Story header and reply-bar areas.
⚖
Two choices, instantly clear
Distinct answer cards with a VS badge make the question readable in a second, which is all a Story gets.
↻
Feed version included
Switch to the portrait or square size and the cards sit side by side, so the same question works in the feed with answers in the comments.

How it’s different

How It’s Different From Canva-Style Templates

</>
Real HTML and CSS, not a locked image
Canva-style templates only give you an image. These are plain HTML and CSS you can copy, download as a .html file or fork into My Code, then reuse on a website, in an email or in your own design system.
◍
Private by design
Text and photos never leave your browser. Images are drawn locally on a canvas, so client photos and unreleased product screenshots stay on your device.
⇲
Every size from one design
Layouts use relative units, so one design exports as an Instagram portrait post, a square, a Story and a 16:9 X post, or all four at once as a ZIP.
✓
Free, with no account or watermark
No sign-up, no premium-only templates, no watermark and no download limits. Edits are saved in your browser for next time.
Aa
Text that always fits
Long headlines shrink step by step instead of overflowing, and Story layouts keep text clear of Instagram’s buttons. Most template editors leave both to you.
v1
Versioned templates
Each template has a version number and an update date, and the exported HTML records which version you used, so you can tell when a design changes.
