About this template

Code Tip — Free Developer Code Snippet Post Template

Code Tip social post template: A dark developer card with a title and a code-editor window (traffic-light dots, file name, monospace code) plus your handle.

Code Tip is a free social post template for developers who share code on Instagram, LinkedIn and X. A title sits above a realistic code-editor window, with macOS-style traffic-light dots, a file name tab and your code in JetBrains Mono, all on a dark background with a cyan glow.

Real, editable code text

The code is live text, not a screenshot, so you can paste any snippet into the Code field and the line breaks and indentation are kept. It renders in JetBrains Mono at a comfortable size with 1.6 line height, coloured in the accent (cyan by default) for a terminal look. Long snippets shrink automatically to fit the window.

Editor chrome that reads instantly

The window has a title bar with red, yellow and green dots and a file name such as "copy.js". People recognise it as code at a glance, even in a fast-scrolling feed. The window has a subtle border and a deep drop shadow, so it floats above the background.

Title plus code works best

Developer posts perform best when the title states the benefit ("Copy to clipboard in *one line*") and the code proves it. Wrap the key phrase in asterisks to colour it with the accent.

Made for dev content

Use it for JavaScript, CSS, Python, SQL or shell one-liners, release notes with an API example, or tutorial carousels. Fork it to My Code if you want to restyle it further, or see the Code Screenshot Generator for syntax-highlighted screenshots.

For text-only tips, use Tip of the Day.

Why use it

Why Use the Code Tip Template

⌨
Instantly reads as code
The editor window with traffic-light dots and a file tab tells developers what the post is before they read a word.
⎘
Real text, not a screenshot
Paste code straight in. Indentation is kept and long snippets shrink to fit, so there is no cropping screenshots from your editor.
⇄
One design for every network
The same tip exports at 4:5 for LinkedIn and Instagram and 16:9 for X, so one snippet covers every place developers scroll.

How it’s different

How It’s Different From Canva-Style Templates

</>
Real HTML and CSS, not a locked image
Canva-style templates only give you an image. These are plain HTML and CSS you can copy, download as a .html file or fork into My Code, then reuse on a website, in an email or in your own design system.
◍
Private by design
Text and photos never leave your browser. Images are drawn locally on a canvas, so client photos and unreleased product screenshots stay on your device.
⇲
Every size from one design
Layouts use relative units, so one design exports as an Instagram portrait post, a square, a Story and a 16:9 X post, or all four at once as a ZIP.
✓
Free, with no account or watermark
No sign-up, no premium-only templates, no watermark and no download limits. Edits are saved in your browser for next time.
Aa
Text that always fits
Long headlines shrink step by step instead of overflowing, and Story layouts keep text clear of Instagram’s buttons. Most template editors leave both to you.
v1
Versioned templates
Each template has a version number and an update date, and the exported HTML records which version you used, so you can tell when a design changes.

Real-world uses

Common Use Cases

Release notes with code
Announce a new API method or SDK version by showing the exact call developers need, with the file name tab naming the language or package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open the Code Tip template, paste your code into the Code field, set the file name and a title, then download the image. Indentation and line breaks are preserved, and long code shrinks to fit the editor window.

The code is shown in a single accent colour for a clean terminal look. For multi-colour syntax highlighting, use the Code Screenshot Generator, or fork the template to My Code and add your own highlighting.

Use the 1080×1350 portrait size for LinkedIn and the Instagram feed, and the 1600×900 landscape size for X. Download all sizes at once with "All sizes (ZIP)".

The code window always uses JetBrains Mono so it reads as code. The title and handle use the heading and body fonts you choose in the Fonts section.

Portrait post 1080×1350 (4:5): Instagram feed (recommended), Facebook feed, X portrait. Square post 1080×1080 (1:1): Instagram, Facebook and X feeds. Story / Reel 1080×1920 (9:16): Instagram and Facebook Stories, Reel covers. Landscape post 1600×900 (16:9): X feed image, Facebook landscape. Switch sizes in the editor and the layout adapts, or click "All sizes (ZIP)" to download every size at once.

Yes. "Copy HTML" and "Download .html" give you one self-contained file: the markup, all the CSS and links to the Google Fonts it uses. "Fork to My Code" saves an editable copy in the UI Snippets editor. The file records the template name and version (v1.0.0).

Yes. It is free for personal and commercial posts, with no sign-up and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type or upload is sent to a server.
